Kris didnt race at Albacete, injured?
no Kris didnt get the opportunity to race this round. We no longer have any funds to race the rest of this championship. We have absolutely no sponsorship, still. Every round has been funded by Kris working in the family business; and its just too hard now to pluck money out of thin air. The experience has been life changing, with challenges of a Moto 2 motorcyle and the awesome tracks of Spain. Kris has had great help from Wayne Gardiner and Kenny Roberts Snr, and Ben Reid who has been instrumental in getting Kris race ready for each of the rounds this year in the CEV Buckler Moto2 championship. Even with the dire financial problems surrounding the European economy, local riders over there have a much easier path than any Aussie will ever get. We simply get NO Help from Australia -whatsoever. Even the $5000 from the Federal Government allocated to Motorcycling Austrailia for an Aussie racing overseas, was taken away from MA and given back to the Olympic team......what tha? Hopefully something will come Kris' way financially so the remaining rounds can be raced.
That sucks. So sad to hear.
Sucks, but it's pretty much standard. I read exactly the same story for French riders... and the Spanish are very pro-Spanish, which is fair enough. What will happen if some of the corruption gets shaken out by the various enquiries since the change of government will be interesting... but there is always the solid base that your average Spaniard loves motorcycle racing. Whereas a few works back I was driving down to Valence and was getting updates on the radio for the TdF, the formula 1 and some golf thing, but not a word on the MotoGP.
There is also the argument that sponsoring international teams helps sell Spain as a tourist destination for the demographic group watching bike racing in northern Europe. What does Australia sell to Spaniards who watch CEV?
Lol! True, a few years ago I was drinking Australian wine in Barcelona, it's relatively common down there... compared to France, anyway
I hope something comes up for him, either way it would be a hell of an experience.
Word on the 'street' is Jack Miller's Folks tipped in A$300,000 to Caretta Technology for the 2012 Season!
that sounds sorta about right... maybe a bit rich, didn't think Moto3 was quite that much
