Kinda sucks about the job loss, Chris, but if you didn't like it anyway... Glad you have at least one avenue of potential income. Three rules in life, mate. 1. Work to live, not live to work. 2. A motorcycle will get you through periods of no money, better than money will get you through periods of no motorcycle. 3. Never trust people who don't like dogs.
When its a job you hate, its hard to know whether to say that sucks or congrats! So, door closes, another opens... I've been in a bit of the same since Feb. Business I was part of, preparing R&D tax incentive rebates etc, not everyone working in same direction, so we closed it down. Interesting work though. So anyway, more time to finish my Masters...
Hey Doc! Truly fab running into you at Woolies this arvo. Good to hear the BB got a "lube and oil change". So very sorry to be out of contact for so long. Catchya real soon.
Well lookee here. I turned 40 today. Far out man. One thing I can say is I'm older, fatter and poorer than I was this time last year... Oh, and a friend has bought himself a Harley Livewire! Looks like I might be scratching for a ride on it soon
Happy birthday Chris. Say goodbye to the dirty 30's and welcome to the naughty 40's. Let us know your thoughts on the HD livewire when the chance arises
Yeah AEVA will be there in a big way - most of the vehicles up for test drives will be from our members. I'll be there with the Ioniq. All the councils were invited, so I figured you might be there. One day of the week it's predicted to bucket down and we're out there...
Happy getfucked2020 to you all. It's been a shit year all round, despite some positive moves. Good because when I was laid off from my other job, I got a redundancy pay out which finished a few jobs around the house like my solar and battery storage system. Also, it was a job I hated, so it was nice to be free form it. In early October I had an interview with South Metro TAFE and have been working as a technician ever since. They want me to lecture, so I've signed up for a Cert 4 in training and assessment in vocational studies - the ticket to lecture. It's a good workplace, and nice folks. Just the right mixture of structure, freedom and bullshit. But 2020 has been certifiably shit because Katherine has been suffering really bad anxiety since Covid hit and it's impacted her sleep terribly. I came to dread holidays because without work to distract her she stays up all night tossing and turning. After 10 months of lousy sleep, and the last 2 weeks of effectively zero sleep, she's seen a doctor about treating her anxiety. Christmas is never much fun, but this year has been the worst. Also, TAFE forgot to pay me for the last 2 weeks of work, so it was an incredibly lean Christmas. Voltron still sits idle without a battery and that fucking Prelude is still in my shed, but I hope to have that rolling as soon as the last few parts come in. Then maybe one day, for the first time since about 2009 MotoGP, we'll have a holiday. Unreliable work has meant we've not taken a fuck-off-for-weeks holiday since the Bright ride. I'm so used to it now
Yep, right with ya on the fuck off 2020 sentiment, it was a cunt of a year for everyone, ...except DJ Trump, of course, he's getting what he deserves. Glad to hear things are looking up on the work front for you, once you're settled in things should be a lot easier. Sorry to hear about Katherine's health issues, though, hope they can get it sorted for her, as this Covid thing ain't gonna get any better any time soon. One day at a time, Chris, one day at a time.
